Johnny Bairstow (86 not out) blasted a half-century knock to help England beat South Africa by five wickets on Friday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 series.


South Africa scored 179 for six in 20 overs thanks to a 58-run half-century innings with four fours and two sixes from Fof du Plessis, while England were unbeaten on nine balls and four sixes in Bairstow's 48 balls. With the help of 86 runs, he scored 183 runs for five wickets in 19.2 overs and won the match. Bairstow was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant innings.


Batting first after losing the toss, South Africa did not have a good start and got their first blow in the very first over as Tenba Bavuma. Bavuma scored five runs. After the first blow, Quinton de Kock and Du Plessis took over the team and the two batsmen shared a 77-run partnership for the
