The 26th edition of the Indraprastha Flower Show commenced
today at Bahubali DDA Park in East Delhi. In addition to the vibrant display of
flowers, the event features a diverse range of activities, including a little
chef competition, on-the-spot painting contests, discussions on healthy living,
organic farming concepts, and various engaging events catering to kids,
teenagers, and adults.
Despite the winter chill, the sunny day attracted thousands
of visitors, and even more families and school groups are expected to join on
Sunday. The event is accompanied by a full day of music recitals. Run by a
dedicated group of approximately 200 homemakers from East Delhi, the show,
entirely self-funded, has been blossoming for the past 26 years.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to meet the
President, Mrs. Krishna Gupta, and the Secretary, Mrs. Rachna Jain. They shared
insights into the show's history and future plans. Mrs. Sumita, a member,
shared a personal story of overcoming trauma through her involvement with the
event.
All members actively contribute to and embrace new
initiatives, fostering a sense of community. The venue boasts over two dozen
stalls offering a variety of novelties, plants, planters, manure, and numerous
food stalls with delicious offerings at fair prices. Mrs. Krishna Gupta
expressed gratitude to the media for their role in spreading awareness about
green and healthy living.
It's truly admirable to witness this group of homemakers
collaborating to promote essential values such as life, living, quality of
life, and the importance of healthy food. Their dedication is evident in the
positive impact on individuals, as shared by Mrs. Sumita. The venue,
conveniently located near Karkardooma metro station, is open on Sundays as
well. Don't miss the chance to experience this celebration of nature and
well-being.
