The Congress Party on Friday said that in every elections there has been a doubt and misunderstanding over the use of Electronic Voting Machine, therefore, a policy decision should be taken at the national level now.
Addressing a press conference here, Congress spokesperson Rajiv Shukla said that some political parties have been demanding Joint Parliamentary Committee whereas some of them asking the Election Commission of India to intervene in this matter.
Referring to the incident of Patharkandi Assembly constituency in Assam where an electronic voting machine (EVM) was being transported in the private vehicle of a sitting BJP MLA, Mr Shukla said that the ECI has an elaborate guideline for the transportation of the EVM machine after poll but those were found in the vehicle of the BJP candidate.
“This is a matter of concern and the Election Commission need to think over it”, he said.
