Delhi Police on Friday said it is trying to provide skill training and employment to first-time offenders who constitute a majority of the over 1.5 lakh offenders arrested in various cases.

Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said the aim is to bring the first time offenders back into the mainstream of the society.

Delhi Police has launched a programme “YUVA 2.0” at Greater Kailash Police Station.

Asthana said this will help youths a lot to bring a change and positive thinking towards society.

"We have noticed that unemployed youths easily indulge in crime... YUVA 2.0 will help unemployed youths acquire professional skills and get a job."

About 1,000 youths will be trained every year under this programme, said Ashtana.
