The people of the National Capital woke up to a cold and foggy morning on Saturday with minimum temperature settling at 5.4 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal.


The fog formation which was placed under the moderate category by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), lowered the visibility to less than 50 meters in and around NCR. As a result at least ten trains were delayed, a Northern Railway official informed.


According to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the overall air quality has improved to the lower end of the very poor category as forecast. Surface winds are high and southwesterly in direction; high winds are likely to continue for the next 24 hours. Due to the better ventilation index, AQI is likely to improve further the lower end of Very Poor to Poor AQI is forecast for tomorrow. AQI is likely to marginally deteriorate on 1st and 2nd February but within the 'Very Poor' category.
