Entire Nation Wears a ‘Diwali Look’ in Response to PM’s Appeal

Residents at KW Shrishti lit up candles and earthen lamps at around 9:00 pm on Sunday 


Crores of citizens stood up to comply with PM’s appeal. All lit up candles, earthen lamps, or turned on their mobile phones’ torch to show their collective resolve in fights against Coronavirus pandemic across the nation. 

Lakhs of crores of citizens across the country switched off internal lights of their homes and ignited earthen lamps, candles and turned on mobile phones’ torch at the balcony or the door of their homes on Sunday evening.

Sources revealed that not only the big cities or town areas, but also various rural pockets, spread over the country, wore a ‘Diwali look’ at least for an hour. 

Besides, showing candle lights in front of their residences, sections of citizen were also witnessed firing crackers, singing religious songs and playing music in various parts of the country.

Entire activities were performed in response to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s massive appeal to show a collective and unanimous approach to fight coronavirus pandemic with solidarity across the nation.

It all started much before the stipulated time frame of 9 pm and continued till 9: 45 pm at many places.

PM Modi had on March 3, appealed the masses to display their collective resolve to fight the coronavirus disease by lighting a candle, lamp or flashlight of a mobile phone on Sunday evening. 

Many renowned personalities and dignitaries, including President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife, Savita, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and his wife Ushamma, several Union Ministers like: Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, BJP patriarch L K Advani, JP Nadda and prominent personalities from various fields including Mukesh Ambani and Bollywood actors and actresses came up with Diyas and candles in front of their doors and balcony. Many of them however termed it as “Diwali in April”.
