Former Indian captain and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman Sourav Ganguly was discharged from the hospital on Thursday.

Ganguly was admitted to the Woodlands Hospital after suffering a heart attack last Saturday where he underwent angioplasty. Ganguly, 48, told reporters after being discharged from the hospital that he would return soon. Ganguly expressed his gratitude to the doctors and hospital staff, saying, “We come to the hospital to save our lives. This proved to be true. I thank Woodlands Hospital and all the doctors for excellent care. I am fine and hope to return soon. ”

His wife Donna Ganguly was also present and both left in their car from Alipur to their residence at Behala in South Kolkata.

Rupali Basu, chief executive of Woodlands Hospital, said that Ganguly was to be discharged from the hospital on Wednesday but had decided to stay in the hospital for a day.
