Government shouldn't impose hardships on gov't servants & armed forces at this stage: Manmohan

Criticising the decision of the NDA government to put on hold the DA of Central Government employees and Dearness Relief for Central Government pensioners till July 2021.

In a special video issued by the Congress which featured reactions of senior Congress leaders on the government decision, Dr Singh said, 'I sincerely believe it is not necessary at this stage to impose hardships on government servants and also on the armed forces people.'

Speaking in the video, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the government was taking money from the middle class but not giving it to the poor people and instead of spending it on the central vista beautification project.

'You are taking money from the middle class. But you are not giving it to the poor people and you are spending it on Central vista beautification project,' Rahul said.

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said that projects like central vista beautification project should be first put on halt before the government halts the DA of Central government employees.

The government on Thursday put on hold DA for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief for Central Government pensioners till July 3021 due to the COVID-19 crisis.
