HP reports 34 new COVID cases in past 24 hrs

Himachal Pradesh has reported thirty-four new Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours, a health official said on Saturday.
A spokesman of the HP Health department told UNI today that there were 3,854 total fatalities in the state as of Friday as no new death was reported from any part of the state.
The numbers of total confirmed cases in the state stand at 228503 against 224227 recoveries.
He said that maximum numbers of new cases nine were found in Mandi district, followed by Kangra and Solan six each, Shimla04, Bilaspur-4 and Hamirpur-1.
The spokesman said that there were five districts in the state where the number of active cases were less than ten.
Meanwhile, the total number of people vaccinated for both doses stood at 11335309 on Friday including 4,385 that were vaccinated only on Friday.
On other hand, the state government has issued strict instructions to all the DC’s and CMO’s to take proper care in wake of the arrival of the Omicron virus in various parts of India.
On other hand, the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur virtually presided over a meeting to review preparedness for new COVID variant, Omicron in the state with Deputy Commissioners from Shimla last evening and directed the district administrations to ensure proper preparedness regarding Covid-19 in their respective districts.
He said that as the New Year was approaching, the influx of tourists would increase and therefore proper adherence of Covid-19 appropriate behavior should be ensured.
Thakur directed the Deputy Commissioners, having a high influx of tourists in their districts to take stringent steps to check the spread of virus. He directed to increase testing and forming micro containment zones where COVID positive cases are reported in the area. He also asked the Deputy Commissioners to organize vaccination camps for people coming from other states to contain the spread of the virus.
The Chief Minister directed to check functionality of PSA plants and availability of basic amenities in the hospitals along with ensuring proper heating arrangements for the patients. He also stressed on surveillance of persons coming from foreign countries and contact tracing of such persons in case reported positive.
He said that the safety of the people was the foremost priority of the state government and every effort should be made to keep the state safe from new variants of COVID.
Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh also gave his valuable suggestions.
Secretary, Health Amitabh Awasthi, the Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary to CM JC Sharma, Mission Director, NHM Hemraj Bairwa and other senior officers attended the meeting.
