India‘s Omicron tally crosses 600 mark, Maharashtra reports maximum cases

India‘s total tally of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron has reached 653 on Tuesday.


Out of the 653 cases, Maharashtra has reported the maximum number of cases with 167, followed by Delhi 165 and Kerala 57, said the Health Ministry's data on Tuesday.


Telangana reported 55, Gujarat, 49, Rajastan 46, Tamil Nadu 34, Karnataka 31, 6 cases each have been from Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, four each from Uttarkhand and Haryana, three each from Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh, UP has reported two cases so far, Madhya Pradesh 9, Odisha 8, one case has been reported each in Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Manipur.


So far of these, 186 people have been discharged following their recovery from the virus.


Meanwhile, India reported 6,358 new coronavirus cases and 293 related deaths on Tuesday according to the health ministry. This pushed the total number of active cases to 75,841 and the death count to 48,0290.


The recovery tally rose to 3,42,43,945 as 6,450 more people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. Active cases stood at 75,456.


According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Monday 67.41 crore tests for COVID-19 have been done so far.


“India has administered 142.47 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive” Ministry data said.
