India logs over 1.32 lakh new nCoV cases, 2.7k fatalities in last 24 hrs

 India on Friday recorded 1,32,364 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 2,85,74,350, according to Union Health Ministry's daily Coivd-19 report.
 
Besides, the country also saw 2,713 deaths, pushing the total number of fatalities to 3,40,702. The death toll stands at 1.19 percent.
 
Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for 22 consecutive days, as 2,07,071 patients recuperated during the past 24 hours, pushing the number of recoveries to 2,65,97,655. With these new recoveries, the recovery rate jumped to 93.08 percent.
 
Now, active caseload further declined by 77,420 to stand at 16,35,993, less than 2 lakh since 8 successive days, shows the data.
 
Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate is currently pegged at 7.27 percent.
 
Daily positivity rate grew from 6.21 percent to 6.38 percent, less than 10 percent for the 11th consecutive day, the Ministry added.
 
So far, the country has carried out more than 35.7 crore tests.
 
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 35,74,33,846 tests have been conducted so far, 20,75,428, of which were carried out in the past 24 hours.
 
On the vaccination front, a total of 22,41,09,448 doses have been administered since January 16 this year, of which 28,75,286 were administered in the past 24 hours.
 
Tamil Nadu registered the highest 24,405 cases, followed by Kerala with 18,853 cases, Karnataka-- 18,324 cases, Maharashtra-- 15,229 cases, and Andhra Pradesh-- 11,421 cases.
 
Maharashtra saw the highest deaths in the last 24 hours (643), followed by Karnataka (514).
On Thursday, India had recorded 1,34,154 new Covid-19 cases and 2,887 deaths.
