 India has reported 6,317 new Covid-19 cases and 318 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of deceased to 4,78,325 in the country, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data on Wednesday.


Meanwhile, the Covid-19 active cases have declined to 78,190 lowest in 575 days, which presently constituted 0.22 percent, lowest since March 2020, Ministry’s data said.


The recovery rate touched 98.40 percent as 6,906 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,42,01,966.


“The daily positivity rate is 0.51 percent, which is less than 2 percent for the last 79 days, whereas the weekly positivity rate is 0.58 percent which also remains less than 1 percent for the last 38 days now,” the Ministry reported.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. India has so far conducted over 66.74 Crore tests across the country.

With the administration of 57,05,039 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 138.96 Cr the Ministry said.

“More than 147 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through direct state procurement category.

More than 17.73 Cr balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs,” said the Ministry.
