Power supply in the country's commercial capital, Mumbai, was shut down from 10.30 am on Monday due to power grid failure.
A spokesperson of the Brihanmumbai Electric Spleen and Transport Undertaking (BEST) informed that power supply has been stalled throughout Mumbai due to the spread of the grid.
The metropolis's three electricity suppliers - Adani, Tata and BEST - have issued a message that work is on to restore power supply at the earliest. During this time the trains in the city have come to a standstill and ATM facility has also been disrupted.
It may take a few hours for the power supply to be restored. Power supply has come to a standstill in Mumbai Central, Thane, Jogeshwari, Wadala, Chembur, Borivali, Dadar, Kandivali, Mira Road, Bhandup areas.
