Government oil marketing companies have raised prices of petrol and diesel for the third consecutive day on Friday due to the rise in demand from China to headline crude oil prices in the international market. Today, in four major metros of the country, diesel has increased by 21 to 24 paise and petrol prices by 17 to 20 paise per liter.


In Delhi today, the price of diesel rose 23 paise to above 73 rupees per liter. After August, the price of diesel has again crossed Rs 73 per liter. Petrol price has increased by 20 paise per liter. The prices of both fuels today were Rs 82.86 and diesel Rs 73.07 per liter respectively.


Oil marketing companies have raised petrol prices by Rs 1.80 per liter in 12 times during the last fortnight. Diesel has also become costlier by Rs 2.61.


Petrol in the commercial city of Mumbai rose by 19 paise to Rs 89.52 per liter and diesel by 24 paise to Rs 79.66 per liter.


In Kolkata, the price of petrol has increased by 19 paise to Rs 84.37 per liter and the price of diesel has increased by 23 paise to Rs 76.64 per liter.


Petrol-diesel prices have also increased in Chennai. Petrol prices rose by 17 paise to Rs 85.76 per liter and diesel prices rose by 21 paise to Rs 78.45 per liter.
