The rupee rose by 10 paise to 74.01 against the US dollar on Tuesday on the strength of the domestic stock market, despite the dollar being stronger against the major currencies of the world. The previous day had gained five paise to Rs 74.11 per dollar. The rupee opened one paise higher at 74.10 to the dollar, supported by the rapid support of the domestic stock market. During trading, the rupee was in the midst of a low of 74.12 per dollar and a high of 73.88 per dollar.
In the end, it closed at Rs 74.01 per dollar, a rise of 10 paise over the previous day.
