Stock market continues to boom, Sensex crosses 47 thousand

Covid-19 vaccine was out for the fourth consecutive day in the domestic stock markets in anticipation of coming soon and the BSE Sensex closed at a new record level of 47,353.75 points with a jump of 380.21 points, or 0.81 per cent.

Cessex has risen 1,800 points in four days. The National Stock Exchange's Nifty also gained 123.95 points, or 0.90 percent, to reach the historical level of 13,873.20 points. There was a strong buying interest in medium and small companies. The BSE midcap climbed 0.83 percent to 17,823.23 points and the smallcap gained 1.49 percent to end at 17,938.59 points.

The government has assured that Covid-19 vaccines can be introduced in the country at any time in January. Also, experts have said that the vaccine against new strains of the virus will also be effective. The signing of President Donald Trump's Ordinance Relief Package ordinance in the US also saw enthusiasm among investors in Dalal Street.

There was all-round buying in the market today. Banking and financial companies contributed most to the Sensex gain. Among Sensex companies, Titan and State Bank of India shares rose more than three percent. Shares of L&T and Ultratech gained two per cent. Hindustan Unilever was the biggest loser, down nearly half a percent.

Most of the foreign stock markets remained closed due to Christmas and New Year holidays.
