“Abrogating special status of Jammu and Kashmir and splitting the state into Union Territories last month is meant for the benefit of the citizens” – These were the words of the top Indian diplomat, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, while sharing his views about the Indian Government’s recent steps in J & K.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla is presently the Indian Ambassador to the US.

During an exclusive interview with the India’s top News Agency, PTI, Shringla termed Article 370 as an ‘anachronistic provision’ that had often stifled the economy and encouraged the inflow of Pakistan based terrorists into the Kashmir valley and suburban.

“Surprisingly, few of the media groups in United States have chosen not to display the facts about the Kashmir issues. Instead they are focusing on the kind of matters that being pursued and pushed by the pro-Pakistani or anti-Indian mentality people”, Shringla said.

“I, along with the Indian Embassy, have started a massive outreach to the members of the Congress, senators and the think-tank community about the factual positions on India”, he said.

The officials believe that the recent changes would bring massive scope, apart from growth and development, across the J&K. Everything is being done in the interest of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir. Ongoing development would enable the Kashmiris to get their rights that were denied to them for many decades.
